Natural Dye 101

Plants are not only pretty to look at, they can also be used to create a rainbow of color! The world of natural dye is vast, but this class will provide a great introduction and get you started noticing the plants around you and being curious about what colors they can create.

In this class we will talk about seasonal dye plants, making a dye bath, and how to dye your fabric for maximum long lasting color. We'll be using 3 different dye plants and modifying the dyes to create a range of colors.

A few different types of fabric will be provided to see how they absorb the dye. You will also be dyeing and taking home a silk scarf.

Wear clothes you don't mind getting stains on. Bring an apron if you have one, and a notebook for your dye samples and notes. There will be time for lunch, so feel free to bring food or step out to a local cafe.

Excited to dye with you!

Tickets: $75
