In this workshop participants will learn the basics of decorative sashiko stitching and practical visible boro-style mending. We will go over how to draw and stitch a range of decorative sashiko patterns and how to use visible mending to repair clothing and linens.
All materials will be supplied. Each participant will be provided with Salt & Still's Visible Mending Kit which includes sashiko thread, sashiko needles, canvas for mending, an instruction booklet for mending at home and more. There will also be colorful naturally dyed fabrics available for practicing sashiko stitches on.
Additionally, participants are encouraged to bring a pair of jeans, an item of clothing, or a home textile to visibly mend during the workshop.
