Charcoal Portrait Drawing - All Levels

A$AP Rocky.JPG

Learn the basics or advance your skills!

When you arrive to this two-hour class, your drawing board, paper, and tools (and wine!) will be prepped and ready for you to get going. A collection of photos of famous change-makers (from activists to scientists) will be provided for you to choose from as your reference photo. Feel free to e-mail Louisa ahead of time to request a photo of someone in particular to be sized and printed for you.

First, Louisa will demonstrate basic charcoal shading techniques to help you capture realism in texture. Next, you will learn the easy-to-master but oh-so-useful “Grid Method” for tackling those pesky proportions in your composition. The result is a more realistic drawing style.

If you are a beginner, have no fear! If more experienced, Louisa is happy to give you advanced one-on-one tips.

You will leave the class with your portrait drawing and the basic tools to start a new project on your own: a drawing clip board, 2 charcoal pencils, a mechanical eraser, and a tool pouch.

*Wine and light snacks will be provided

Tickets: $55
