Natural Light Portrait Photography Workshop

At the Natural Light Portrait Photography Workshop, you'll learn how to capture the personality and highlight the best qualities of loved ones in your portraits. You’ll learn how to pose your subjects, frame the perfect shot and shoot both outside and within your home. By the end of this class, you’ll be ready to start taking portraits that you’ll be proud to share!

You will learn to….

  • adjust camera settings for indoor and outdoor lighting

  • find complimentary backgrounds and avoid harsh shadows

  • pose your subjects and frame your shots to get the most natural photos

This class is tailored to beginners, and is perfect for those who are looking to improve their pictures of family, friends, pets and more! Participants will be given a special photo-tip packet that they can take home with them for future reference.

*A camera with manual exposure settings is encouraged. Basic DSLR camera settings will be covered.

About your host, Amanda Archibald

Amanda is a photographer and arts educator living and working in the District. She teaches high school art and photography in McLean, Virginia, hosts workshops at the Petworth Library in NW, exhibits her work locally, collaborates with other DC photographers and always aims to capture that perfect light in her subjects.  She will guide you step by step through the picture taking process and teach you how to bring out the best in your natural light portraits.
